Industrias Forestales saves energy with a new Brunnschweiler project

The current high cost of energy leads many companies to invest in the optimization of their installations to achieve energy savings in the paper industry. Brunnschweiler has recently developed a new process for energy recovery for the machines 1 and 2 of Industrias Forestales, S.A., at Nacimiento (Chile).

The supply included three air/fumes recovery units, two for the MP-1 and one for the MP-2, equipped with Baltogar fans, a member of the Brunnschweiler family of companies. The first recovery unit has been calculated to save at the most 582.300 kcal/h, while in normal operation this value is 468.900 kcal /h in cold season and 370.800 kcal/h in hot season. In the second unit the heat recovered can reach 984.300 kcal/h with 741.000 kcal/h in cold days and 591.000 kcal/h in warmer conditions. Finally, the third fumes/air exchanger has a heat recovery power of 732.300 kcal/h (585.300 kcal/h in cold season and 498.400 kcal/h in warm season).

The average savings are as follows:
-    The total heat recovered is 1.628.000 kcal/h, giving a steam saving up to 3.250 kg/h.
-    The return of investment for the overall project is less than one year payback, making this a very good investment.

A project team was assembled and collaborated to obtain the resulting energy savings to make this project a success. Other team members are the forest group CMPC Papeles, S.A., and  Industrias Forestales, S.A., a leader in the production of newspaper in Chile and the largest Latin-American exporter of this product.
